On the National holiday, 18 November, public transport will be free

On 18 November, public transport may be restricted due to the National holiday events – the student parade, the National Armed Forces military parade and the torchlight parade. During the National holiday, residents and visitors of the city will be able to use public transport for free. Parking lots on the sides of the streets managed by Rīgas satiksme will also be available for free. There will be changes in the working hours of customer centres. 

Public transport

On the National holiday, 18 November, all passengers will be able to travel for free, and without registering code tickets on Rīgas satiksme buses, trolleybuses, and trams.

Also, the public transport will run according to the holiday schedule.
There may be temporary restrictions on public transport during certain periods when events marking Latvia’s birthday are taking place in the city. 

At 7.30 a Latvian Student Corporations parade will take place from the University of Latvia to Brāļu kapi. The parade will take place from along the route Raiņa bulvāris, Brīvības bulvāris, Brīvības iela, Cēsu iela, Mēness iela, Miera iela, Klusā iela, Miera iela, Brasa overpass, Gaujas iela, Aizsaules iela, Brāļu kapi.

If necessary, the State Police will temporarily restrict traffic along the route of the parade.

At 13.30 a military parade of the units of the National Armed Forces will take place on the 11. novembra krastmala. Infantry parade: 11. novembra krastmala, Strēlnieku laukums, Kaļķu iela, Brīvības bulvāris, Brīvības iela, Bruņinieku iela, Sporta iela, Skanstes iela. Military parade: 11. novembra krastmala, Ģenerāļa Radziņa krastmala to Salu bridge.

Traffic will be regulated and closed by the State Police during the parades. Routes that cross the parade route may deviate from the planned schedule.

At 18:00 a torchlight parade will take place along the route from K. Ulmanis monument on Raiņa bulvāris along Raiņa bulvāris, K. Barona iela, Aspazijas bulvāris, Z. A.  Meierovica bulvāris, K. Valdemāra iela, Raiņa bulvāris. Approximate time of the parade is 1 hour.

Parking lots

On Monday, 18 November, the Riga Municipality’s paid parking lots on the sides of streets serviced by Rīgas satiksme will be free of charge. The underground parking lot at K. Valdemāra iela 5A will be charged according to the current tariffs. 

Customer service centres

On Friday,15 November, the working hours of the customer centre at Brīvības iela 49/53 will be from 8.00 to 15.00, and the working hours of the Riga Support Centre for Ukrainians will be from 9.00 to 15.00. The working hours of the other customer centres will remain unchanged – from 9.00 to 18.00 and at Stacijas laukums 2 from 10.00 to 20.00.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday 16, 17 and 18 November, all customer service centres will be closed, except for the customer centre at Stacijas laukums 2. The working hours of the customer service centre in Stacijas laukums 2 will be from 10.00 to 18.00 during these holidays.
